The site has in theory been moved over successfully. Hi all,
Welcome to the new City of Perth Band website – the old design was getting along a bit in years, and I figured it was time for a bit of an upgrade, both aesthetically and functionally! You’ll find that the new website is a lot more informative and active when it comes to upcoming gigs, news or even wrap-ups of previous gigs; my goal with this iteration of the website is to make it a halfway step between rehearsals and the newsletter, keeping everyone up to date with the latest information as we hear it and making sure that if you miss a rehearsal, you don’t miss any vital information.
This page of the website is basically where all our new information goes, as we hear it; if you look over to the right, you’ll see a list of “categories” – this will help filter the information if you’re looking for particular information on, say, the brass or concert band, or upcoming gigs in general. The search function should be fully operational, too. All the pages of the original website are around, too. Some have been re-arranged and updated, with the engagements being a prime example.
Information about engagements can be accessed in two ways; you can use the categories list to the right and filter it by brass/upcoming/concert/swing, whichever you desire or you can click the Calendar link under The Bands. This will display an active calendar that you can navigate by using the arrows up top; hovering over an event will give you more details about it, and clicking it will lead to a more detailed post with more information about that specific event.
If you’re having difficulty viewing the website, drop me a line at webadmin@cityofperthband.org and I’ll do my best to help you out. The new website utilises the great open-source blogging engine WordPress, an easy-to-use system that also has the advantage of looking great! Additionally, the site now supports RSS feeds. For those in the know, subscribe! For those that aren’t familiar with the concept, don’t worry, it’s nothing major.
If anyone has content they wish to submit, let me know; I’ll be happy to add it in. 
Below this news post are several more that I put into the system, detailing the next events for both bands that I know about at the moment. Keep checking back for updates, I’ll be updating the site as regularly as possible!
